Oriam are delighted to be working with our partners to deliver Oriam Scotland's Sports Performance Centre that the nation can be proud of. The experience and expertise that exists within the partners will ensure that Oriam is perfectly placed to have a positive impact on sport, performance and health.
In 2012 the Scottish Government committed £25 million of funding to develop a National Sports Performance Centre, and in December that year organisations were invited to bid to host and operate the centre. Heriot-Watt University, in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council, were successful in their bid and have worked extensively with sportscotland and the partner sports to develop the design.
Through extensive research and consultation with Scottish Governing Bodies of Sport, sportscotland and Edinburgh council, it was concluded that there was a great need for a high class sports facility in Scotland. The building of Oriam Scotland's Sports Performance Centre at the Edinburgh Campus will have an immediate benefit to the Lothian's, Scottish Borders and Fife & Central Scotland. The Scottish Government were a key partner in helping create the vision for Oriam to create world class sporting facilities and services that will support SGB's strategies for performance sport.Visit the Scottish Government's website
